Angry Moms

According to a survey of more than a thousand mothers, the majority confess to being angry. So what's making them so mad?

-- They're mad that they spend more mental energy on the details of parenting than their husbands do.

-- They're mad that their spouses, who can manage businesses or keep track of thousands of pieces of sports trivia, can be clueless when it comes to what their kids are eating or what supplies they need for school.

-- And more than anything else, moms are mad that their husbands get more time to themselves than they do.

By the numbers:

-- 46 percent of moms get irate with their husbands once a week or more. Those with kids younger than one are even more likely to be mad that often.

-- Many moms -- 44 percent-- are angry that dads often don't notice what needs to be done around the house or with the kids (it jumps to 54 percent for moms with three or more kids).

-- 40 percent of moms are also angry that their husbands seem clueless about the best way to take care of kids.

-- 31 percent of moms say their husbands don't help with the chores -- in fact, they generate more.

-- 33 percent of moms say their husbands aren't shouldering equal responsibility and are less concerned than they are about their children's basic needs, like nutrition and clothing -- a number that rises to 41 percent for those with three or more kids.

-- 50 percent of moms say their husbands get more time for themselves.

-- 60 percent of moms don't tell their friends what they're going through, or they make light of it.
