What Are Guys Doing Wrong?

Esquire magazine asked women what guys have been doing right and wrong all these years. Here are just a few of the hundreds of responses:

She is intimidated when you travel in a big, tight pack of your friends.
She doesn’t trust you when you’re out with a female ‘friend’.
She can tell a lot about you based on how you treat her when she’s sick.
One of the most chivalrous things you can do for her is to pay attention when she tells you something.
Courting should involve an equal ratio of phone calls to text messages.
Meeting her friends for the first time is awkward enough so she’d appreciate it if you didn’t get drunk.
Smart women want to hear how beautiful they are.

Guys You Shouldn't Date

(FromYourTango.com)

Your Roommate’s Boyfriend – If you screw it up, you also screw up your living situation. And a roommate could be harder to find than a good boyfriend.

Your Ex – What wasn’t right the first time still isn’t right. Unless you want to re-experience the heartache OR are willing to deal with the stuff that broke you up in the first place. Avoid the ex like expired milk.

Your Boss – Yeah, power is sexy, competence is attractive, and your boss does it all so well…but he may also want to fire you if things go wrong, or may not be allowed to date you in the first place. People do meet their mates at the office many times, but tread carefully when it comes to higher-ups.

Your Best Guy Friend – A strong friendship makes for a great romance – but if you’ve been great friends for years why hasn’t it already happened? Great chemistry is usually pretty obvious and the risk on this one might be the highest – whose shoulder are you going to cry on when you’ve just screwed things up with your best friend?

Your Vacation Fling – So you think your vacation fling actually has potential?! Enjoy it if you can handle a little heartbreak…but if you’re the kind who is easily flung into despair, leave people you meet on that island beach…on the island beach.

The 5 Most Important Things To Keep From Your Guy

(From the book “The Introvert and Extrovert in Love”)

Past hookups. Men may ask about other guys, but what he really wants to hear is that he’s the best.

How you spend your money. It stresses guys out to see you buy things they deem unimportant---like clothes or shoes. If he compliments your dress, never share where you got it or how much it cost. And don’t think he isn’t thinking that HE may be the one someday paying for those ‘unnecessary’ items.

The way you feel about his family. The minute you say something negative about his family, he will feel like you’re making him choose between them and you, and he’ll resent you for it.

Innocent flirtations. It may be tempting to brag that you get male attention, but it’ll just make him feel insecure. Keep quiet and take pleasure in the fact that you’ve still got it going on.

What you really think of his gift. Men aren’t super expressive, so a gift is their way of saying they care. If you reject it, you reject him.

10 Easy Ways To Lose 10 Pounds

(From Glamour.com)

Fill half your plate with veggies – veggies and fruit are nutrient dense and act as calorie control. Split the other half between lean protein and a whole grain starch.

Rethink the drink – stopping the sugary drinks can cut more pounds than skipping sugar in the stuff you eat! Nixing sodas (and the like) can also help you crave fewer sugary foods like candy or cookies.

Intervals – rather than the long cardio slog you’ve grown accustomed to, try one with bursts of fast and lulls of a recovery pace. You can actually burn more calories in the same time.

Hold the condiments or creamy add-ons – and things like extra cheese, and you could cut as much as 300 calories a meal.

Take time in the morning to plan your meals. If you know what you’re eating, you’re less likely to over-eat or pick up something that’s not a part of your plan. Figuring out what’s in store for the day takes the guess work out when you’re hungry.

Grab a ten – if you’re still doing reps with little five pound weights, pick up some heavier weights and pack on a bit of muscle, which boosts your metabolism.

Fiber for breakfast – breakfast itself will help fire up metabolism, and a fiber-filled starter does double duty – getting you going and keeping you feeling full.

8. Portions – until you really measure you don’t know what a ‘single serving’ is. Here are the shortcuts:

-- Carbs: about the size of your fist

-- Lean protein – about an iPhone

-- Condiments – one tablespoon

-- Ice cream – half a tennis ball

Eat every 3 – 4 hours –Smart snacking can help your body burn calories effectively. Choose healthful snacks and you’ll never go hungry again.

10. Pat yourself on the back – you’re making smart choices and sticking to a plan. You deserve congrats each and every day….and a splurge now and then too!
